Is Ashlee Simpson already dating again?
Just one month after filing for divorce from former Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz, Simpson, 26, has reportedly been spotted getting cozy with another guy. And he just happens to be a friend and colleague of Wentz's!
The man in question is Craig Owens, 26, a singer and guitarist with the band D.R.U.G.S. (Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows), which just released its first album on Wentz's Decaydance record label.
He and Simpson took a recent shopping trip to a Los Angeles mall and apparently were doing more than just browsing. "They were holding hands in the elevator, and a lot of the time he had his arm around her," a source tells In Touch. "They even kissed each other on the lips. It was obvious that they were a couple."
In addition to both being musicians, Owens has another thing in common with Wentz: both have struggled with mental health issues. Owens overdosed on Xanax in 2008 at his Michigan home and said that "he has struggled with manic depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety for years," according to E! Online. Wentz has talked openly about his battles with depression and bipolar disorder.
Despite their similarities, Wentz -- who is wrangling with Simpson over custody of their 2-year-old son -- may not be all that thrilled that his friend appears to also share the same taste in women.
A friend reports that Wentz might be looking for a reconciliation with Simpson. "He sends flowers to her every day and that's only the beginning," the friend tells In Touch. "He has even offered to quit his band and let her pursue her career, but so far, she hasn't budged."
